Easter Décor

Happy Easter – Pascua de Resurreccion – Pasen – Pasqua – Ecatep –– Frohe Ostern – no matter what the language here is some facts about Easter:

  • Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the Christian religion
  • Eggs have been seen as ancient symbols of fertility
  • Favorite Easter candy is chocolate
  • Most Americans (and Germans) think the ears of a chocolate bunny should be eaten first
  • Egg dyes were once made out of natural products such as flower petals, vegetables, and juices
  • In 1680 the first mention of an Easter Bunny was published in a book by Georg Franck von Frankenau. The book title was “De ovis paschalibus” (About Easter Eggs).
  • Easter Legends were brought to the United States in the 1700s when German immigrants settled in Pennsylvania Dutch country.
  • The White House Easter Egg roll event was established by President Rutherford B. Hayes and his family in 1878.

I really like Easter!  The excitement of decorating my home, coloring eggs, baking delicious Easter cakes or loaves of bread, and spending time with family and friends are all highlights of the holiday for me. Let’s see what we can do to make this holiday very special this Year.

Décor – Spruce up the home!

Let’s start with some ideas in décor to bring that spring feeling into the home and express the Easter tradition.  There’s nothing like shaking off the winter cold and bringing some beautiful color and freshness into the home which will help symbolize the beginning of a new season of growth, as well as express the meaning of the Easter holiday.

Greet your guests with a beautiful Easter or Spring wreath on your front door, to ring in this beautiful season.  You can find a large variety at online sources such as Etsy, below are a few that I think would look beautiful on my front door. Or turn on your creativity and make one out of mesh, fabric, or burlap with some simple ornaments such as flowers, ribbons, and eggs.  This will allow you to choose the fabrics, colors, and materials that will complement your home and your personal style.

I found some beautiful wreath made from burlap, fabric, eggs and some DIY ones, for this festive season.

Table Setting

Décor – Setting the table!

I love to set a beautiful table when having friends and family over for a meal or just coffee and cake.  Who doesn’t love the HGTV Chip and Joanna Gaines family! They are so much fun to watch and learn, Joanna has a great eye for décor and can really make a house pop!  I have found that her Hearth & Hand with Magnolia collection gives endless possibilities to create different settings and styles for all types of occasions.

Tablecloth and Napkins

I always start my table settings with a table cloth that draws the attention of my guests and really makes a statement.  Choose one in the same color scheme as the napkins and table décor, or go more elegant with a white tablecloth of good quality.  I find the blue Easter basket plaid tablecloth is a great choice, but if this is too colorful for you, choose a quality Alba Jacquard tablecloth in white.

If you are totally into Bunny’s you might enjoy this table cloth, which will brighten up your springtime celebration.  It has been expertly printed by a European Mill, on 100% cotton of high-quality damask.

A centerpiece is another piece of Décor to draw attention to the table setting, and I carefully think about what goes with the rest of the setting.  I really want it to stand out, but not be overtaken by my overall table setting. You can choose between Easter trays, floral arrangements or maybe a blooming spring plant basket.

Visit here for some beautiful centerpieces that I thought were worth sharing, Easter Tiered Tray

Blooming Easter Basket, and Center Piece Table.

When I set my table, I like for it to really play into the rest of my Décor. I really think the lovely green of the Spring Tabletop Refresh Collection from Hearth & Hand with Magnolia would complement the overall look for a perfect Easter setting.  The pedestal dessert bowls in this beautiful color are among the favorites this year.

The folded napkins in the bunny design are fun and easy to make with this tutorial. Use napkin prints that will complement your tablecloth.

The finishing touch on any table settings is sparkly and shiny beautiful stemless Champagne flutes, paired with these stylish clear glass drinking cups and a heavy elegant silverware set. The key to good silverware is to use a heavy and sturdy, but stylish, set.  In particular, I think the Sydney Sand silverware set made from 18/0 stainless steel and that comes in a frosted finish, looks very nice.

Gifts for Guests

Complete this very festive holiday with little gifts for your guests, friends, and family you hold dear.

I think this Easter Basket looks very extravagant, the basket holds a collection of Easter Egg goodies made by the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Durango, Colorado. Or if you want something more creative, these Mason Jar Easter Basket look like they are easy to be made, and can be filled with special Easter candy of your choice.

This little fluffy chick is made in limited quantities exclusively for Williams Sonoma by the German company “Steiff”.  This little chick might bring lots of delight to little guests. Steiff is a legendary German company that has been handcrafting toy animals for more than a century.

Sideboard or Mantel décor

A sideboard or a Mantel could be the focal point of any dining room and eye catcher for the whole room. Let’s explore some ideas on how it can turn a sideboard into an Easter or Spring masterpiece.

I really think the Ceramic Bunny bowl with the butterfly would bring that Easter feel to any sideboard, paired with pastel-colored eggs and a ribbon to a color that matches the rest of décor. Using a spun glass cylinder with a distinctive texture like this one, and your choice of flowers would create a stunning bouquet. This can be the focal point for a sideboard or a mantel.

The Pottery Barn inspired Easter Bunny Banner can easily be hung across a mantel and together with some glass egg cloaches. handmade of blown soda lime glass, filled with colorful Easter candy eggs can create a beautiful Easter look.  Complete the look with a handmade large arrangement of yellow daffodils, placing them in a large sturdy vase.

Then there is nothing left to do, but to enjoy your home and how beautiful it looks this spring.

Happy Easter.
